Below are several painitings from start to finish. Hope this encourages you to begin your artistry talents.
Rays Of Hope
The inspiration for this painting came from a photo on Facebook.
From the magnificence of the sky I named this painting "Rays of Hope."
Through this our friends in TGIF Recovery have been inspired from
New Beginnings Fellowship Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Tx.
Art classes were offered to TGIF in honor of my son Russell Dwaine Stewart.
Margret's Art Texas Gallery has been a positive influence on many through art.
Russell found his way back to God after years of addictions. Thank God He's Free!
![]() Rays of Hope #1I started this painting with the backround of blue. There really was not much in the picture I was going with, so I had to decide what to add to the sky so it would be more interesting. My first thought was to have a red sunset with it casting red into the water. I could not find the picture on FB to go by and really had forgotten what it looked like. After starting I just struggled with how to finish. What had caught my eye the first time I saw it was the brilliant sun rays. | ![]() Rays of Hope #2lesson number one for fishing for clams. Use a small pallet knife and be ransomed with strokes for the trees. I chose the fall colors in the background to frame the blue sky and the light blue cove. Pallet knife allows me to apply the color and leave it without detail but allowing the color to speak for itself. The feeling of movement and with some detail. The eyes are drawn back to the raccoon fishing for clams. Everything else is secondary but frame with the fall colors c |

A Mothers Love
A Giraffe and her baby!
![]() 1 Motherly love GiraffeThis is the beginning with a yellow and gold background. I outlined the giraffes and colored them in with brown. | ![]() 2 Motherly love GiraffeMy plan was to paint the body with a medium brown and then draw the lines. In the process, I noticed that the color of the brown spots looked flat. I mixed a slightly darker brown and dry bushed parts of each spot. Next I painted the "white" then painted each spot rather quickly, making sure that each one had the typical five sided shape not squares. I used two shades of brown as I had before. | ![]() 3 Motherly love GiraffeMy first plan was to paint the body with a medium brown using burnt sienna and titanium white then I drew the lines in. After painting this far I observed that the brown spots were without definition and style. The color did not have depth so I mixed a darker brown then dry brushed part of each spot. I was much more satisfied with that effect. |

![]() 4 Motherly love GiraffeNotice that the spots graduate smaller as they go down the legs and belly area. I must mention that it is so important to compare your drawing with your photo by shifting your eyes back and forth. Also, often check for imperfections. | ![]() 5 Motherly love Girraffe.jpgI had to correct the width of the legs and the body of the mother. Art is meant to show a subject in a pleasing manor. It does not have to be a perfect production. |
Peacock
The Peacock didn't start out as one.
![]() 1 PeacockWhen I start an abstract, I have some idea of what I want to do. But most of the time, I change my mind. "It" tells me what to do, or I might even go as far to say that I am inspired by God or something that guides me. I started this to be a water splash painting, meant to look like blue fluid splashing. But, somehow I got lost along the way. | ![]() 2 PeacockYou can see that Il ove color. At this point, I was not happy with what was developing. |

![]() 3 Peacock_editedWhile it was still wet, I completely changed my plan. I still did not know what was to be. | ![]() 4 PeacockThe next morning, as I started my day inthe studio, I walked over to the painting that I had struggled with. "I see a peacock!" The colors came together in such a fashion that it was obvious! |
![]() 5 Peacock FinishedI looked at pictures of these beautiful birds and came up wit this! This painting is sold but will commission |
